ASUSTeK Computer Inc. is a Taiwanese based multinational computer hardware and electronics company and most often referred to as ASUS. Its product line include desktops, notebooks, laptops, LED/LCD panels, mobile phones, networking devices, monitors, graphics cards. motherboards, optical storage, tablet PCs, multimedia products, servers, and workstations. The company slogan/tagline was previusly was "Inspiring Innovation. Persistent Perfection." and is presently is "In Search of Incredible.
ASUS became a member of the Open Handset Alliance in December of 2008. one of 14 new members of the organization to make use of compatible Android devices, contribute representitive code to the Android Open Source Project, or embracing the ecosystem with products and services that will advance the availability of Android-based devices."
ASUS spun off Pegatron Corp. in June of 2010. In October of 2010, ASUS and Garmin announced that they were terminating their smartphone relationship as a result of Garmin deciding to leave the smartphone market. Asus along woth Garmin had produced six Garmin-ASUS labeled smartphones over the pevious two years.
In December of 2010, ASUS announced the world's thinnest notebook computer, the ASUS U36, using Intel processor voltage standard (not low voltage) with Intel core i3 or i5 being only 19 mm thick.
ASUS officially stopped production of its Eee PC series in January of 2013 as sales were declining as consumers were increasingly switching to tablets and Ultrabooks.
