Tamron 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 AF XR Di VC LD IF Lens Tamron 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 AF XR Di VC LD IF Lens The Tamron AF 28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 VC XR Di lens encompasses every range from wide-angle through telephoto to macro. Tamron has also included Vibration Compensation an anti-shake device developed by Tamron with this multipurpose zoom lens. This new AF 28-300mm Aspherical MACRO zoom lens delivers all the versatility, convenience, and reassurance of a high powered zoom lens with the capacity to diminish blur caused by hand-shake on DSLR cameras with either an APS-C or full-size sensor cameras.

When the AF 28-300 is mounted on a full-size sensor SLR 35mm camera, it covers an enormous focal length ranging from 28mm wide angle through a 300mm ultra telephoto length. When mounted onto a DSLR featuring an APS-C image sensor, the lens encompasses a wide angle of 43mm through 465mm ultra telephoto (35mm SLR equivalent, with a diagonal viewing angle of 5°20').

The exclusive Vibration Compensation (VC) device created by Tamron contains a triaxial layout using three pairs of slide balls and driving coils surrounding the compensator group within the optical system of the lens. Since the compensation lenses are being supported with rolling ball friction, the performance response is enhanced while the build is simple, resulting in a compact lens. The lens also features a highly precise gyro sensor for sensing hand-shake, which is integrated with a 32-bit RISC CPU, providing comfortable anti-vibration results.

The AF 28-300mm combines acquired Tamron optical technologies as a leader and pioneer of high powered zoom lenses as a way to accomplish coveted compactness even while integrating the VC device. The optical system employs several lens elements created using special optical glass substances which includes hybrid aspherical elements, glass-molded (GM) elements, high refraction index (XR) glass elements, ,low dispersion (LD) glass elements as a way of compensating for lateral and on-axis and chromatic aberrations plus an anomalous dispersion (AD) glass element. The lens also provides high resolution, high contrast, operations and image field flatness as a one-handles-it-all zoom created to complement the DSLR camera characteristics. Nov 19, 2011 ✓

Revolutionary MFD of 19.3" (0.49m) Throughout Zoom Range Provides 1:3 Macro Magnification Ratio
The AF28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di VC MACRO boasts an MFD (minimum focusing distance) of 19.3" (0.49m) over the entire zoom range, a top-class close focusing capability among high power zoom lenses for full-size format SLR cameras, which provides the remarkable maximum macro magnification ratio of 1:3 at the 300mm telephoto end.

  • XR Technology. Extra Refractive Index Glass (reduces lens size). The first most important reason that the lens is so compact is the use of high refractive index glass. That is, XR glass. High refractive index glass bends light more than normal or lower refractive index glasses. Normally, glass material having a refractive index of more than 1.69 is called high refractive index glass. In the A03 optical system, glass material having a refractive index of more than 1.69 is used in the front group. In addition, refractive index of the whole optical system is enhanced. By using high refractive index glass in the front group, we could make the elements in the first group thinner, and reduce one element in the second group. This made the overall length of the whole optical system shorter.

  • DI - Digitally Integrated Design
(to reduce ghosting, flare, CA and peripheral light fall-off along with improved resolution)

  • VC - Vibration Compensation.
Tamron’s proprietary tri-axial Vibration Compensation (VC) mechanism that minimizes the effects of handheld camera shake. Tamron’s image stabilization mechanism,  controls the effects of camera shake in three planes. VC provides more opportunities for sharp hand-held photography (up to 4-stops) at the slow shutter speeds needed when shooting in low-light conditions (e.g. night or indoor scenes) dramatically enhancing the user’s level of photographic freedom.
