If you believe as I do while you think the typical 17-50mm, 17-55mm or 18-55mm, zoom lens should have a little longer reach for some outdoor situations,
but believe telephoto lenses are a tad long, and you crave something in between, there are several other lenses to select from. This would include; Canon 17-85mm, 28-135mm, 24-85mm, 28-105mm along with the 24-105mm. While I am quite fond of the 24-105 L lens, it costs a lot (4 - 5 times the price of this lens), big and heavy. Lenses beginning at 28mm are somewhat not wide-angle enough, leaving the 24-85mm lens.
The focal length of this particular lens is practically ideal for everyday shooting, as it gives you a chance to shoot from portraiture (50-85mm) and landscapes (24-50mm) with a like quality and
usefulness. A lightweight and compact lens excellent in every area except one characteristic. If you require a lens for low light, this isn't the one.
If your primary intention is to shoot photos in low light environments like concerts and weddings, then you need raise your sights and obtain the 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM in its place.
If you simply get enjoyment from taking photos and
want a decent, "walk around" lens that is not overly heavy, then you'll simply love this 24-105 lens, and I envy you. it's a zoom that's ultra-wide featuring portrait-length telephoto potential. Because it has multiple lens groups that move while zooming, it's lightweight and compact. The aspherical element stifles distortion. High contrast is preserved at every focal length while letting you obtain sharp images.
Built into the system is a replica aspherical lens element that minimizes optical distortions to give you sharp images. The flare-cutting diaphragm helps the lens produce a high-contrast image, even in tough lighting. Its high zoom ratio of 3.5x allows you to take tighter shots of your subjects. It's fully compatible with all EOS cameras.
