Cloudscape photography is photography of clouds or sky.
The subject of Cloudscape Photography entails viewing and photographing cloud formations in unique shades and
hues, including the entire sky. it is a fundamental attachment to Nature Photography, having to do with outdoor environments
Léonard Misonne from 1870 to 1943 from Belgian was one of the first cloudscape photographers, well-known for his black & white images of heavy skies with darkened clouds.
During the first to the middle 1900s,
Alfred Stieglitz an American photographer 1864 to 1946) produced a series of cloud photographs, called "equivalents" from 1925 to1931. An article on the equivalent series found on the website of the Phillips Collection remarks, "A symbolist aesthetic underlies these images, which became increasingly abstract equivalents of his own experiences, thoughts, and emotions".
Recent contemporary, photographers like Robert Davies,
Ralph Steiner, and
Tzeli Hadjidimitriou have been celebrated for creating such images.
