A Traditional First Rate
Japanese Build and Classic Style
The Voigtlander 20mm f/3.5 SL-II Color Skopar is an ultra-condensed, robust manual focus lens manufactured with a traditional first rate Japanese build and classic style. The Color Skopar is the perfect choice for a medium wide angle lens if you want high performance from a fixed manual focus lens.
This 20mm lens features a f/3.5 wide open aperture, although unlike the majority of zoom lenses it performs almost as radiant at f/3.5 as it does at more moderate f/5.6-11.0 apertures. A dedicated hood is optional, although on DX sensor Nikon DSLRs it would be difficult to induce lens flare if you made a deliberate attempt. It's possible to extend the focus helicoid within the Color Skopar far away from the body to provide a minimum focus distance of only ~8" (20cm).
Any of the exposure modes of your camera can be used plus you can take control of the aperture from command dial of your camera. In field practice, you'll discover the manual focus travel within the Color Skopar
quite satisfying to operate although worlds apart in operation from employing
the same operation with an autofocus lens
Manufactured by Cosina Co., Ltd (a small Japanese optics firm who also makes lenses with the Zeiss-brand), the Super Wide-Heliar stays with the identical optical formula of its beloved ancestor plus adds a precise rangefinder connection, 52mm filter threads, plus a today's Leica M mount (in place of the old Leica screw mount). There's only
one limitation which is the lens is focused manually.
