zoom lens is your do-it-all lens. If you have only one

candid
shots of wild animals. This lens offers superior optics and improved contrast and resolution from edge to edge throughout the zoom range. Multicoated for
reduced flare and increased light transmission and has a sturdy metal mount. The 28-300mm lens is compact and lightweight, ideal for
travel and will allow you to capture any shot that comes your way!
Superzoom
The term hyperzoom or superzoom is used to promote photographic zoom lenses with unconventionally large focal length factors, typically more than 4× and ranging up to 15×, e.g., 35 mm to 350 mm. The largest ratio for digital SLR cameras is held by the Tamron 18–270 mm, giving 15×. Some Digital Camera Review by Gene Wrights have even larger zoom ratios up to 35×. For movie and television use, Panavision holds the record with their 300X HD Lens.
While superzoom lenses have improved greatly in recent years, they still have a number of drawbacks in comparison with shorter-range zooms and prime lenses. Most notable is the much increased likelihood of significant distortions of the image at both extreme ends of the range. Other potential problems include smaller maximum aperture and poorer autofocus performance
Following is a list of superzoom lenses, used for 135 format in SLRs or for APS format in DSLRs. The minimal factor used here is 5×
or more. A 28–200 mm has a 75° to 12.3° angle of view, a 28–300 mm (or an 18–200 mm for an APS DSLR) has
an 11.1x 75° to 8.2°

a good value but incomplete, April 24, 2006

i think you all are amazed about this item's price .... yes its
cheap. and thats why i went for it.
this lens came to me with very fast delivery and an excellent condition packaging, the construction of the lens is ok and the parts quality are also very good.the filter fits 77mm filter set (thats a very big diameter)
its a (PULL and PUSH) type to Best Prices for the zoom from 28mm upto 300mm
there is a lock provided to lock the lens at 28mm.
the zoom quality is amazing, but the autofocus mechanism is alittle bit noisy, but fast.
but the biggest disadvantage of this lens is balance ! if you stay at 28mm which means the lens is at minimumm distance to the camera attachment ,the camera would be stable on a tripod ,
but if you go to maximum zoom 300mm you will have to push the lens forward and the lens will be far from the camera attachment about 7" which makes alot of wieght load on the camera ring and you may have a damage risk for the connection parts of your camera.
and as you know that a long zoom like 300mm demands either steel nurved arm or a tripod , but with this lens you will have to have steel nurves to hold the camera and the lens with both hands ,there is no place for the tripod unless you get extra attachment to support the lens and distrebute the wieght load between the camera and the lens
rather than that , its a good value for money and you wont have to carry any extra lenses with you.good luck
