The high-performing lens encompasses a moisture-and dust-repelling layout, while offering an approximate 3x zoom range range at a constant full f/2.8 aperture opening. Optical performance is reassure by aspherical glass plus triple Extra Low Dispersion (ED) lens elements to reduce aberrations at every focal length. An iin-lens Super Sonic wave Motor (SSM) provides quick, silent autofocus.

Additionally the SAL1650 zoom lens will be available separately for around $700 in October
