The SLR Magic 28mm f/2.8 lens is a multi coated manual prime lens that is made to work with the Sony NEX system for camera bodies such as the NEX-3, NEX-5, and NEX-VG10. Lens is in native E lens mount and will work directly on your camera!

What's so special about this particular lens is the fact that it is weighs practically nothing (~280g) and sports unique rotational aperture disk. When shot wide open it creates creamy smooth bokeh. When stopped down it still produces silky smooth bokeh. Whay? It is because the rotational apertrue disk ensures a perfectly round aperture opening at all times for the perfect bokeh It is the characteristic of a SLR Magic lens and it's quite fascinating The lens is terrific for creative photography.

The lens is terrific for creative photography. There have been a number questions about what makes this lens different from a typical kit lens. The Field of view (FOV) turns into a 42mm equivalent on a SONY NEX camera. This is pretty much between normal and wide angle for 35mm photography being just right for achieving correct framing for a photo which may otherwise be tricky to master using the kit lens that came with your camera. A precisely round aperture is accomplished at all apetures for this 28mm f/2.8 lens and it becomes ideal for use as a portrait or normal camera lens as the FOV is equivalent to 42mm mounted on a Sony NEX camera.

SETUP GUIDE & TIPS

Manual focus is easily achieved by the assistance of x7-X14 zoom of MF Assistance function in Live View. Users are advised to use Aperture priority (A mode) with this lens. User would have to select shoot w/o lens mode in the camera setting. More advanced users may use Manual mode (M mode) when using this lens for creative opportunities. It is also recommended to shoot in M mode when either the internal or external flash is used as TTL metering is not enabled in Aperture priority mode.

Please do not attempt to force the built-in hood off. It is part of the lens. We have had customers who have done so and damaged their lens permanently. We will not be responsible for mechanical failure due to inappropriate usage of the lens.
