Sigma cameras are engineered to portray the world exactly like it is imaged through the human eye allowing the emotions to register colors in all their passion.
Sigma manufactures their own innovative Foveon image sensor providing the latest technology. This is a direct sensor that replicates colors as
authentically as film while it registers all the color details in its triple-layer expertise, a feature other DSLRs and compact digitals do not have.
These identical sensors are employed in both DSLR and digital compact cameras. Sigma’s digital compact cameras provide an edge over other compacts where their sensor sizes are 7 to 12x sizes smaller than the Foveon image sensor and are not able replicate color in the way as the Foveon sensor does allowing Sigma cameras to deliver an image with the richest, accurate colors.

Sigma DP2s compact camera with 14MP FOVEON X3 CMOS sensor
The DP2s Sigma is a well-built camera, it's hard to tell if the the dated looking blocky styling and archaic control layout look is Sigma's attempt at retro design or not. At best the handling is middling, while the slow, noisy operation and terrible poor-light focusing could put the casual photographer off, assuming that the frightening price tag didn't already send them
scurrying back to the shelter of a more traditional compact digital. Although if you're ready to handle its imperfections you are rewarded with spectacular photo quality and shooting versatility that out performs any other digital compact bar none.
