Like

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ100 encompasses a freshly-developed Vario-ELMARIT Leica DC lens with 24x power house optical zoom. The first Panasonic digital hybrid Camera containing a MOS image sensor, The FZ100 Lumix can capture full 1080p High Def (HD) video--offering you a brawny hybrid that can capture video or still photos with no difficulty providing professional-style quality.

The FZ100 has an astonishingly quick burst shooting at 14.1 MP resolution at 11 fps plus a mechanical lens shutter, while frames per second can be increased to 60 fps in 3.5 MP shooting. In addition, the FZ100 can shoot continuous AF as fast as five fps at complete resolution for terrific action photos. It also features Smart Burst shooting. The camera makes a judgment for the best shutter speed to minimize any motion blur looking at the subject movement, raising the ISO as high as viable, activating high sensitivity recording.

Dislike

The IQ not quite so decent as the previous FZ35 camera. There is above average noise at ISO 400. At higher than 0.2", the electronic viewfinder is only fair to say the least The price is amongst the most expensive for Super Zoom cameras.

The proprietary battery is chipped while aftermarket batteries may not let you know the amount charge remaining in them, and a few will not even function at all. Better to, stay with the costly Panasonic battery brand for backup batteries, while they do last for a long time before needing recharging.

The tiny red "recording video" button is hard to use. I lost videos on two different occasions because I thought it was recording after pressing the red recording button, although later when I presumed I was actually turning the video off when pressing the record button I was actually only then turning the recording on. Be sure to see the little movie projector icon on your display monitor before you take for granted you are capturing movies! Updated Review Aug 22, 2011
