T
he first digital cameras to feature the General Electric brand name were introduced in March 2007. The cameras are positioned as an alternative to existing brands. The GE camera brand is also known as General Imaging.
A well-known brand in other fields, GE is still fairly new to digital cameras. It has
created a variety of compacts and subcompacts, but only a few models have
pioneering features, like GPS or touch screens. A few are also incredibly inexpensive.
Currently, GE does not make super-zooms or digital SLRs.
The digital camera line is pitched as more attractively designed, easier to use, and loaded with advanced features, including in-camera panoramic stitching, which makes them more economical than other brands
GE has just announced the J1050 and J1250, each of which is packed with high-tech features.
GE continues its efforts to break into the photo space and has made some inroads with cameras like the 10MP J1050 and 12MP J1250 by loading them with technology while keeping their operation simple and the prices down ($119.99 and $139.99, respectively). Each camera is less than an inch thick, sports a 2.7-inch LCD monitor, and offers auto scene, blink, smile and face detection. The cameras can also auto-stitch panoramas. The cameras, which are available in red, pink, black and silver, are expected to be available "soon."
