dimensions and weight is comes about by advancements in mirror less viewfinder technology, and big DSLR format image sensors that have become more harmonious with a new breed of Micro Four Thirds (MFT) compact system camera lenses.
This new breed of Compact System Cameras (CSC) provides a lighter weight and smaller package not found in traditional DSLR cameras, providing improved portability and creative power. The DMC-G3 makes a traditional DSLR-type experience available and also includes an external Mode knob for fast access to most often used functions such as Aperture, Program, and Shutter Priority, Manual. Other control settings include a pair of Custom Modes, new Creative Control Function and Scene Modes. The DMC-G3 also features a dedicated video control that can be employed to quickly change to video capture without switching modes.
Similar to most DSLR cameras, the DMC-G3 includes an integrated hot shoe and flash for attaching optional LUMIX flash units. The LUMIX G MFT System includes an available choice of 11 high performing fixed focal length prime and zoom aperture G Vario zoom lenses, including a highly flexible 3D lens with the capacity to shoot both 2D & 3D photos
simultaneously. There are available lens adaptors to mount older version Leica M lenses plus Leica R lenses, and adapters to mount older model full Four Thirds Lumix lenses. A ground-breaking 14-140mm Vario HD G lens captures the best of still and video image photography employing a long 10x zoom and virtually stealth high-speed focusing.
