One of The Most Affordable
Macro Lenses Available
Capture beautiful details with impeccable accuracy with this ultra-lightweight Macro lens. Take pictures of flowers, coins, stamps and more
from less than 6 inches to infinity with dramatic results. Designed exclusively for digital photography, this lens delivers rich, accurate
colors and high contrast from edge-to-edge, and is ideal to use for macro shots and even standard landscape and portrait shots, as well.
One of the most affordable macro lenses available and I'm not talking about a third party lens here but
a lens from the
manufacturer. The rather low price point is, because of the comparatively slow speed of the lens. A maximum. aperture of f/3.5 is
typically more associated with conventional standard zoom lenses rather than primes. You may
argue whether this is a viable compromise - a
comparatively slow maximum. aperture isn't really anything to worry about in a macro lens
although this lens isn't really all that useful e.g. for
portrait photography. When thinking in full format terms (field-of-view & depth-of-field) the lens is equivalent to a 70mm f/7 which may give
you a better idea if the scope of the lens (technically it remains a 35mm f/3.5 lens of course). It's interesting to note that the Zuiko
provides a maximum. magnification of 1:1 - this is actually "better" than the 1:2 magnification of the primary 4/3 macro lens, the much more
expensive Olympus Zuiko Digital 50mm f/2 macro
Lens distortions, shading and exposure information are automatically corrected via the built-in CPU for even higher image quality. And because
it weighs less than 6 ounces, carrying it is just as appealing as using it.
This ultra lightweight, macro lens has a focal length equivalent to 70mm on a 35mm camera and provides exceptional performance for its cost. You do not need any extensions to get 1:1 (life-size) magnification, and its comact size means you can bring it along always to enjoy taking close-up pictures in your daily scenes, such as, flowers and insects. It is also useful as a standard lens for landscape, snap shots and portrait photography.

Olympus lives up to its name as one of the finest manufacturers of fine optics, with this relatively inexpensive lens. A wonderful product for those both experienced and wishing to be experienced in the field of macro photogaphy. Suitable for any of the recent and current DSLR "e" series cameras. I highly remcommend it not only for it's price but for it's ability to reach magnification ratio of 1:1. The only failing I have found is that when racking the lens way out flash from the DSLR built in flash causes the lens to cast its shadow in the frame. No such problem if using aa auxilary flash such as the Olympus FL-36R, expecially when used with an auxialry flash bracket.
