I get so many questions about 35mm camera lenses, I decided to work
on this series about specific use camera lenses. Many of these
lenses overlap from one category to another. Did I mention that
photography can be expensive? But compared to other sports like auto
racing, motorcycle racing, boating, maybe photography is cheap. What
can you buy for a race car for $1,000?
- Architectural Lenses -
Architectural photography, as the name suggests, is all about the capturing images of different styles of architecture in different lights. This type of photography would require the photographers to be an expert in the technical, as well as the visual department.
- Bird Lenses -
Bird photography can be very expensive as you need a minimum of 400mm for bird photography.
- Hiking Lenses - This subject is all about the weight in your backpack.
- Landscape Lenses -
Landscape Photography. There are a variety of lenses that are good for landscapes.
- Macro Lenses - All about getting close. No, this is not about horse shoes, hand grenades and hot tubs
- Portrait Lenses - Long and fast.
- Sports Lenses - Fast, long, fast and faster.
- Street Lenses - I prefer my 18-200 super zoom, but there are others.
- Travel Lenses - Similar to hiking, mostly about weight, but there is also a need for fast lenses.
- Wedding Lenses. Fast, fast and fast because of generally low light conditions.
- Zoo Lenses - The Sigma "Bigma" could be a good "low budget ($1,050)" choice.
Birding, and Sports and Wildlife photography can be the most expensive.
