Plastic Build Right Down to the Lens Mount

Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 IS Telephoto Zoom LensPlastic build right down to the lens mount. In fact, there's so much plastic, this lens feels looks and looks af the label should read Playskool and not Canon. but, looks can sometimes be somewhat deceiving. Just get on with using it, and quit pixel peeping already. If you have a need for a metal lens mount, perhaps you are somewhat too violent with your gear and you should look for a Hummer or Catepillar brand camera. Those plastic flanges on the back of the lens hold the lens firmly to the camera, but they do not keep the rear cap fastened to the lens. I do believe this goes way beyond being cheap feel and should be labeled CHEAP BUILD!

Integrating Canon's Optical Image Stabilizer expertise, the Canon EF-S 55-250mm zoom acquires long range, poor-light images way better than a number of comparable lenses, assisting you to photograph the far-away action movements of athletes and in turn zoom in for an portrait with a blurry background. The large-zoom-ratio of this lens is the 35mm equivalent to a 88-400mm focal length (when used with EOS cameras with EF-S compatible lenses).

Even more significant, the image stabilizer allows something like four stops faster equivalent shutter speed than the identical size lens with no image stabilization.. Another way of saying, that this EF-S 55-250mm lens will allow you hand-hold it with a shutter speed as low as 1/15th of a second when normally the slowest shutter speed a 250mm lens can steadily be held is 1/250th of a second. The lens also lays claim to a UD-glass element to remedy chromatic aberration to capture excellent quality images throughout the entire zoom range. Providing excellent performance at a reasonable price for any photographer, the 55-250mm glass comes with a one-year warranty ✓
