Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L USM Fast Wide Angle Prime Lens

Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM Lens

Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L USM Fast Wide Angle Lens Description

f/1.4 lenses aren't used for their optical perfection, but because they are f/1.4.

T his 35mm f/1.4 wide-angle lens becomes a close to normal lens 56mm on a cropped sensor camera. The angle of view to is as good as it gets for general all around photography, especially where you step in to the subject to get the shot. The fast f/1.4 aperture is wonderful for indoor available light photos. At f/1.4 it is a little soft, but by f2.0, the images are razor sharp. This 35mm prime lens requires more subject interaction, but also results in more dynamic pictures and the sharpness, saturation, contrast are just brilliant.

It is expensive, but it is a prime L. I cannot say it worth more than a grand, but if you need a fast lens, with good color and saturation at wide open, wide angle and still with beautiful bokeh. It is the one for you. It also provides good shadow details with no sign of wash out. No need to say DOV control. If you have the money, I highly recommend this lens.

This lens is enormously popular among commercial photographers who do full body portraits, in that particular market, this lens is often considered a premier portrait lens.

This is a razor sharp, L-series professional f/1.4 wide-angle lens with an aspherical lens element to correct aberrations. The floating system enables high picture quality to be obtained over the entire focusing range. Autofocusing is quick and quiet with rear focusing and ring USM. Full-time manual focusing is also possible.

Like all L series lenses, this one is built extremely solid. It may feel fairly large and bulky to those who haven't used L series lenses before. The extra bulk is comes from higher quality glass and the use of more durable materials (metal vs. plastic).

An f/1.4 lens is not usually as efficient as the same manufacture's f/1.8 or f/2 lenses, even when both are stopped down to f/5.6. the lens with the wider aperture is heaver and more expensive, so don't choose it as your standard unless you are planning a great deal of photography poor light conditions. There' plenty of reasons for using a wide aperture, but avoid buying a lens with an aperture wider than you need.

Features

A floating mechanism in its optical system corrects all aberrations in the medium and near focusing distances to maintain the lens' super image quality from the closest shooting distance of 0.3m to infinity. The AF drive system features silent, high-speed AF using rear focus system and a ring USM (Ultrasonic Motor). A wide focus ring permits smooth full-time manual focusing. The non-rotating filter frame affords easy use of circular polarizing and other type of filters. All eleven lens elements are made of environment-friendly lead-free glass.
