Description
Full-frame fisheye featuring 180° diagonal
viewing
angle viewing angle for a distinctive and intriguing effects. Different than other AF SLR lenses, closeup auto focusing becomes possible up to within a space of 0.2m, allowing powerful images to be created using the embellished near-far association and pan-focus look an attribute of a fisheye lenses. Although it's a fisheye, straight areas down the middle remain straight. The AF is powered by an Arc-Form Drive (AFD).
The wide depth of field creates an even more intriguing feel. The condensed focusing distance of kust 8 in. (20 cm) allows an innovative sense to close-up images. The lens sports a petal-type hood which is fixed and also employees rear drop-in gel filters, allowing as many as 3 filters to be installed at once.
Photos captured using a fisheye can be somewhat conspicuous as the allow a viewer to look at an entire scene at once that could not normally be viewed in it's entirity. A fisheye or a 10-22mm superwide is often times the best method to capture a vast landscape. There is no other lens features a superior depth of field allowing for sharp focus photos from only a few inches all the way through infinity. Any barrel distortion is virtually eliminated or hidden in a
landscape photo by placing the horizon right in the middle of the image.
The intense barrel distortion of the EF 15mm f/2.8 Lens fabricates a unique effect which most everyone likes (until it's over-done). Using digital capture, it is now possible to make use of fisheye-to-rectilinear converting software to produce a corrected photo similar to an
image a 12-13mm wide-angle
lens would produce. How great this is, although it takes extra post-processing plus requires a bit of knowledge as to what the final-result would possibly look like when shooting the image.
As with every fisheye lens, the 15mm affords a whole bunch of unique and fascinating results, featuring a minimum focusing space of only 8 inches adding new significance to close-up.The best is, it's tack-sharp all the way through the entire focus range.
