Camera Cleaning
Camera and lens bodies are pretty well sealed against dust and
moisture. So you don't really ever have to clean the exteriors of
your camera equipment. On the other hand, if you don't want the dirt
and crud that is on the camera body to work its way into your camera
bag and from there onto an optical surface, it is worth wiping off
the camera body with a soft cloth.

Sunpak .5x Wide-Angle - Economy Wide Angle Work Around
Ok, so you want a wide angle lens to go along with your 18-55mm kit lens, but
you can't justify a $500 to $1200 price tag just to shoot an occasional wide
angle photo. This $49.95 lens is not the perfect solution, although it's better
than emptying your wallet for a lens your probably. won't use that often and the
pictures are not all that bad. If your using the Nikon 18-55 kit lens, it just
screws on to the 52mm filter threads.

Camera
Lens Adaptors
While you can adapt many older manual-focus lenses for use with auto-focus cameras (especially the Canon EOS series, because of its short lens registration distance), you cannot easily adapt auto-focus lenses from one series such as the Minolta to the Canon. That is because the camera body cannot control the lens aperture. For example, if you mount a Nikon SLR 'G' series lens (which doesn't have an aperture dial) on a Canon EOS, you can only shoot the lens wide open. You can't stop down at all. You're better off selling off your auto-focus lenses and then buying the equivalent in the other series. |

Extension Tubes
- Extension tubes are designed to enable a lens to
focus closer than its normal set minimum focusing distance. Getting closer has the effect of magnifying your subject (making it appear larger in the
viewfinder and in your
pictures). They are exceptionally useful for
macro photography, enabling
you to convert almost any lens into a macro lens at a fraction of the cost while maintaining its original optical quality.
The extension tubes have no optics. They are mounted in between the camera body and lens to create more distance between the lens and
film plane. |

Light boxes & Loupes
In photography, a lightbox has several applications. One is a container with several lightbulbs and a pane of frosted glass on the top. It is used by photography professionals viewing translucent films, such as slides. This device was originally used to sort photographic plates with ease. It is also used by visual artists for photo-referencing. |
Light Meters
A light meter is a device used to measure the amount of light. In photography, a light meter is often used to determine the proper exposure for a photograph. Typically a light meter will include a computer, either digital or analogue, which allows the photographer to determine which
shutter speed and
f-number should be selected for an optimum exposure, given a certain lighting situation and
film speed.
|
Lighting Accessories
A flash is commonly used indoors as the main light source when there is not enough
ambient light for a desired shutter speed. A fill flash or fill-in flash is a low powered flash added to ambient light to illuminate a subject close to the camera while using an exposure long enough to capture background detail. Another technique is to point a flash upwards onto a reflective surface, which may be a white ceiling or a flash umbrella, which reflects light onto the subject; this is called
bounce flash. Bouncing creates a more natural light effect than direct flash without glare in the highlights and impenetrable shadows, but requires more flash power than a direct flash.

Photo Printers
Photographic printing is the process of producing a final
image on paper for viewing, using chemically sensitized paper. The paper is exposed to a photographic negative, a positive transparency (or slide), or a digital image file projected using an enlarger or digital exposure unit such as a LightJet printer. Alternatively, the negative or transparency may be placed atop the paper and directly exposed, creating a contact print. |
Inkjet Papers
Paper for Inkjet printers is created from high grade deinked or chemical pulps that features good dimensional stability, with no cockling or curling, strong surface strength, and smooth surface. Ample, even porosity is necessary to neutralize ink spreading. For average quality printing, copy paper that's uncoated will do, but higher paper grades call for coating. The traditional paper coatings are not commonly used as inkjet papers. On behalf of matte inkjet papers, it's typical to use a pigment of silica combined using polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH). Glossy papers for inkjets is created by resin coating, cast coating or multi-coating on a laminated paper.

Printer Inks and Toners
Ink cartridges are normally more costly than consumers might hope, sometimes a substantial portion of the printer cost. To save on costs, many people use third party ink cartridges obtained from a someone other than the
original printer manufacturer. The high cartridge cost has also provided a counterfeiter market to create cartridges using a false claim of being created by the original company. Another alternative is modifications to an original cartridge providing for continuous ink systems using external ink
tanks to be used Others use aftermarket type inks, refilling their cartridges by using a kit which includes bulk ink.

Right Angle Viewfinders
A right-angle viewfinder is an adapter that attaches to your camera's
viewfinder. It contains a prism or mirror to reflect what the camera sees ninety degrees and an eyepiece on the end so you can look into it rather than directly into the camera. They work somewhat along the lines of a periscope, allowing you to see around corners to view what otherwise would be impossible or impractical.

Scanners
A
film scanner is a device made for scanning photographic film directly into a computer without the use of any intermediate printmaking. They provide several benefits over using a flatbed scanner to scan in a print of any size — the photographer has direct control over cropping and aspect ratio from the original unmolested image on film, and many film scanners come with specialized software or hardware designed to remove scratches, film grain, and improve color reproduction from negatives.

2X teleconverters are the most popular and more powerful. |
