Leica Manual: The Complete Book of 35mm Photography

Crammed with photographs that exemplify the photographic trends of the times

Leica Manual: The Complete Book of 35mm Photography. The initial Leica Manual by (Lester & Morgan) published from the first edition in 1935,, until the last edition number 15 in 1973, during which just Morgan was left from the initial two authors. These books are indispensable for Leica collectors for the time frame which the book covers. It covers discussions, photographic instruction, along with techniques using the newest Leica camera equipment of the day, going way beyond the manuals that were included with the camera gear it discusses.

Additionally the books are crammed with photographs that exemplify the photographic trends of the times. This is especially interesting in the early volumes that demonstrate images which contained the possibility to be converted into fascist posters. As a matter of fact, as you look attentively, you'll see a few swastikas posted in these early volumes. The last publications are more politically, innocuous although still full of practical directives regarding using period Leica gear you will not likely find anywhere except from some old time photographer. And, strictly from a collectors viewpoint, it's the last publication ever. Since Leica virtually stopped producing film cameras, these Leica books are becoming ever more collectable and will eventually become rare.
